It is essential to keep your body in tip top condition if you want to be a good dancer and to help prevent getting injured. Even if you’re not a dancer, it’s equally important to keep fit and healthy, to keep your body and mind in balance so you can live life to it’s full potential. Jennifer Dunnell has spent the last 30 years working in the fitness and dance industry and knows exactly how to get the best out of training, whatever goals are to be reached.
“Whether I’m under the weather, or tired, or have aches and pains, I know that exercise will always make me feel better!” - Jennifer Dunnell
Pilates is the ultimate mind-body workout. A holistic, body-conditioning method of exercise that works in different ways to other fitness techniques. Targeting the deep postural muscles, it works by building strength from the inside out, rebalancing the body and bringing it into correct postural alignment. This way of stretching and strengthening, in a precise and natural rhythm, produces profound results for people of all ages and abilities. The benefits can be life changing.
Pilates focuses the mind and enhances body awareness; it improves posture, achieving the perfect balance between strength and flexibility; it creates a stronger and more flexible spine; it increases mobility, agility and stamina; it reshapes the body to become longer, leaner and more toned; it relieves unwanted stress and tension; it improves lung capacity and circulation; and it puts you in control of your body. Pilates is especially recommended by medical practitioners for those with back problems. Whether an athlete or a total beginner to exercise Pilates is ideal to keep the body in tip-top condition and to help guard against potential injuries or overcome postural problems or common injuries.
Jennifer is Pilates Institute trained.
Limbering is an essential part of training for any dancer. It is an intense, whole body stretch class designed to aid and improve technique, improve muscular balance in the body, improve flexibility, to help prevent injuries and keep the body in tip top condition. A supple body achieves movements and positions more easily and with less strain, enhancing a dancer’s capabilities.
Note - Limbering isn’t only for dancers - if you can’t touch your toes very easily, or if your body feels as stiff as a board, then limbering is for you as well. Rid your body of aches and pains caused by stiff muscles and feel on top of the world.
Floor Barre is an essential component of dance training for those students serious in Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance and Jazz.
It’s a challenging, floor based, ballet ‘barre’ class, focusing primarily on core and lower body strength and the basic requirements for sound dance technique. Results are noticeable within a very short period of time, turnout, posture and extension all improve dramatically with regular practice.
Jennifer is also qualified, insured and CRB checked to teach fitness classes to all age groups and children’s Yoga, which she teaches at present at ‘Little People’s Montessori Nursery’ in Norwich, and is hoping to include on the Nabjab Class Timetable very soon.
